Client Blog Post: Employer Branding - Selling the "Why" of your Company to Boost Recruitment

Your company might be the “best thing since sliced bread”, but if you don’t focus on your employer brand, attracting high-quality executive talent might still prove challenging.
Strong employer branding is becoming crucial in order to attract the best candidates. If their working style differs from your company culture, they may be reluctant to join you. If your company culture is completely unknown, this will be particularly true.
Furthermore, today’s job seekers are looking for more than just a massive salary and bonus packages – however, this is excellent news if you are a smaller company. You may not have an enormous budget, but if you have a strong, appealing employer brand this can help you to win the top talent.
When communicating your job vacancies, always ensure your company values, culture and lifestyle benefits are clearly visible. Doing this allows candidates to have a full understanding of what to expect if they were to join you. At the same time, you don’t want to set unrealistic expectations of yourself as an employer and the overall company – this can lead to the candidate feeling misled. So point out any challenges, in order that potential employees can prepare themselves.
Moreover, if your employees feel misled and confused, this will not help your brand either. People talk – and you want your staff to talk about your organisation in a positive way, to increase the possibility of referral hires. If you don’t have a reputation as an impressive employer, the word can spread quickly, making candidates hesitant to apply for roles. According to recent research by Glassdoor, 69% of candidates would not accept a job with a company that has a poor reputation, even if this meant staying unemployed.
Overall, a positive employer brand can save you both time and money, and show the “human side” of your company.
